Pro-Tip: Cis women are not the only people who can become pregnant, use birth control, or need abortions.

ladyatheist:

This so called “war on women” is not just a war on cis women. It’s a war on anyone who needs access to safe, affordable, and accessible healthcare. If we want to make any real progress, we need to stop ignoring and erasing the experiences of trans*, genderqueer, intersex, and other nonbinary people.

Monica Maldonado: It's still legal to be fired for being trans in the following states:

socialistexan:

Alabama
Alaska
Arizona
Arkansas
Connecticut
Delaware
Florida
Georgia
Hawaii
Idaho
Indiana
Kansas
Kentucky
Louisiana
Maryland
Massachusetts
Michigan
Mississippi
Missouri
Montana
Nebraska
Nevada
New Hampshire
New York
North Carolina
North Dakota
Oklahoma
Oregon
Pennsylvania
South Carolina
South Dakota
Tennessee
Texas
Utah
West Virginia
Wisconsin

Note: it still happens in states not listed.

Also: zero recourse for being eliminated from the employment pool through denial of access to education or housing. or being eliminated at the interview because “what would the customers think???”

And yeah some of the states listed and not listed are “at will” or “right to work” employment states, which means you can be fired at any time for any reason, and no reason is required. so they can just fire you and NOT tell you it was because you came out as trans and you have little to no recourse.

I didn’t even mention things like: sky high unemployment and underemployment, legal harassment, and healthcare denial.

Radfems need to go play in traffic. Every “scientific” justification for women = XX chromosomes either has been disproven or is widely regarded as false. No evidence in Developmental Biology, Genetics, and especially Epigenetics has ever supported biological determinism. The fact that Epigenetics exists rejects biological determinism. Stop abusing science.

not to mention the ableism, racism, and, in some tumblrs I stalked, homophobia.

TW: TRANSPHOBIA, CISSEXISM: To everyone that's asking about what happened with me and GrrrlVIRUS [tw: cissexism, transphobia]

genderfuked:

I was at a birthday party for a person in the grrrlVIRUS and Clementine, drunkenly, got really upset with me for no reason really other then me asking why she insisted on drawing different boundaries with me because I’m gender queer and stood up and started yelling about how, because I’m…

this is so disheartening. clementine’s response is totally inadequate as well seeing as they continue to misgender you by referring to you as male-identified. i’m sorry.

wow being drunk is a shitty excuse for anything, and saying that you have “a long and bad relationship with alcohol” doesn’t make it any more legitimate. I realize that clementine doesn’t speak for the entire Grrrlvirus movement, but if you’re going control/ have a blog that is a large source of information about the movement, then it’s important to live up to the standards that you support.

The Grrrlvirus tumblr is starting to disappoint me. With this post, the second response (which still doesn’t seem acceptable), and the picture of Lady Gaga, it’s starting to seem like this particular tumblr isn’t the best representation of the movement.

Clementine may not speak for grrrlVIRUS as a whole, but I have not seen other grrrlVIRUS supporters speak out against Clementine’s actions and be supportive of trans*/non-binary persons.

Because of this (and because of another critique I read that I agree with), I have to say that I am done with grrrlVIRUS. I hope that grrrlVIRUS improves, but I honestly don’t see it happening.

all my friends are wolves: Abortion is not just a women's issue.

anotherwaywardson:

Abortion is an issue to anyone with a uterus and ovaries.

I am a genderqueer trans man.  My primary identity is that of a male.  I am not a woman, but abortion is a relevant issue to me too, because I have a fully functioning uterus and ovaries.

Not all men lack a uterus, and not all women have a uterus either.

Therefore, this issue is not one about gender, it’s about who has the capability to give birth and who has the option of an abortion.

When you say that abortion is solely a women’s issue, you are being terribly cissexist, and erasing trans men who have typical, and functioning, female reproductive organs.

I may be a man, but I have just as much of a say when it comes to abortion, because I am a person who could become pregnant and is able to have an abortion. I am just as included.

Please keep that in mind.

Thank you.
